Why partner with Open Door?

It’s always been one of our goals to support as many individuals as we can, and a big part of that is to share the positive impact we have with as many young people and adults as possible.

To do this, we bring our support into new environments so that people who couldn’t normally access programmes like Bazaar can then find the support they need.

We work across sectors, tailoring and developing every partnership to the needs of the organisation, institution or establishment, and work with our partners at every step to make sure our programmes deliver the most positive outcomes possible.

Who do we partner with?

Academic Partnerships

It’s well evidenced that there is a clear mental health support need among students, and as many of the people attending universities, colleges and schools fit right within the age range of the people we support at our home in Birkenhead, this is a need that we can help to alleviate by bringing what we do out into the world to help support staff and students with their mental health.

To do this, we create bespoke partnerships with academic institutions where we mould the offer around where the need is, and create the biggest possible shared impact.

Public Sector Partnerships

Alongside schools and colleges, we also partner with other public sector organisations and institutions, using our programmes to help alleviate specific mental health needs across education, the justice system, and more.

Business Partnerships

We also work with businesses to create bespoke mental health-based partnerships for their staff teams.

Whether it’s for longer-term, structured options like Bazaar, or shorter-form workshops, we’ll help develop support options that work for each company.

We’ll also help develop plans for mental health and wellbeing events and awareness days, creating wellbeing offers for staff, increasing engagement with support, and more.

Third Sector Partnerships

We also work with other third sector organisations and charities to develop unique partnerships and funding models that allow us to spread support beyond our local community.

This way we can create specialist partnerships with organisations that share our values and goals, spreading our impact both geographically and to different people who might not have engaged with us before.

What does a partnership include?

Bazaar: A Marketplace for the Mind

Bazaar, our flagship support programme, is an eight-session, one-to-one peer mentoring programme for young people and adults, ideally done over eight weeks. Focusing on elements of CBT, mindfulness, and more, over the hour-long sessions Bazaar gives individuals the tools to improve their mental health.

By using a peer support model, we can make sure that there are no waiting lists, so that access to support is fast as well as effective, with the added bonus that it provides invaluable experience in mental health to those who mentor.

Mentors are trained by Open Door, who with no prior experience can be shown how to deliver the early-intervention, non-clinical programme and help improve the mental health of Bazaar members (those who go through the programme). To run the programme, all that is required is a member, a mentor, and a computer/laptop with internet connection.

Soothe Socials

Soothe Socials are group stress workshops for up to 30 people that provide support in many different environments. We’ve previously provided sessions to staff teams to provide introductions to what stress is, how to deal with stress, and more in a unique Open Door way.

We can provide this for various different groups, depending on what works best for our partners, i.e. for staff teams, or for students at times of increased stress such as exams, for training/away days. and more.

New programmes

We’ll also provide access to our latest programmes as and when they are ready for remote delivery – this includes Mysa, our 1:1 peer support programme for those experiencing disordered eating.

Additional Support

We’ll also provide engagement support to make sure that there is a high level of engagement with the programme on both the mentor and member side, we’ll create quarterly impact reports with recommendations, develop unique research opportunities, and support with events and awareness planning.
